The Sharafite Movement has held its maiden Orientation and Media Engagement Programme in Ibadan, Oyo State, as part of efforts to familiarise members with the structure, objectives and communication activities of the movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The programme, held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the Oyo State APC Secretariat, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, brought together members and stakeholders of the movement for presentations, discussions and interactive sessions.

In his opening remarks, the Oyo State APC Publicity Secretary and Secretary, Media and Publicity of the Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (BSA) Campaign Organisation, Mr. Olawale Sadare, commended the organisers and members of the Sharafite Movement, as well as other dignitaries who attended the programme.

The Coordinator of the movement, Hon. Yomi Olajide, popularly known as Royal Umbrella, in his presentation titled “What is Sharafite Movement?”, explained the purpose and direction of the organisation.

According to him, the movement is designed to complement the campaign efforts of the APC and its candidates, including the party’s presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, its Oyo State governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and other candidates contesting under the party’s platform.

Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman of the Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Deputy Director, Media and Publicity of the BSA Campaign Organisation, Chief Demola Babalola, described Senator Alli as a committed and experienced grassroots politician and philanthropist. Babalola said Alli was seeking to reposition Oyo State and restore its status as the Pacesetter State.

A major component of the programme was a session on media engagement, communication strategy and social media management, featuring the Director of Media and Publicity of the BSA Campaign Organisation, Mr. Bisi Oladele; Media Consultant, Mr. Olawoyin Edris; and Publicist, Hon. Sola Abegunde.

The session provided participants with practical guidance on communication, media relations and social media management in the context of political activities and campaigns.

The programme also featured an interactive session, closing remarks and a vote of thanks delivered by the Sharafite State Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Idris Ismail, popularly known as Ajeja.

The organisers said the programme was intended to provide members with a better understanding of the movement, its communication structure and the approaches expected in media and social media engagement as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
