Leadership is best measured by what a leader achieves when given the opportunity to serve. Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, has demonstrated this consistently throughout the various positions he has held.
As Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government from December 1991 to November 1993, before the administration was interrupted by the military regime of the late General Sani Abacha, Senator Alli recorded notable achievements within a relatively short period.
Among his accomplishments were the establishment of a garri-processing factory at Bodija Market, the construction of shops within the market, and the allocation of spaces to traders.
His administration also distributed instructional materials and provided classroom furniture for primary schools across Ibadan North, helping to create a more conducive learning environment.
He facilitated the employment of civil servants and teachers, provided dug wells across various wards to improve access to water, and undertook the construction of Oke Aremo Road in Ward 03, among other grassroots initiatives.
These achievements demonstrate an important principle: when a leader performs effectively at the grassroots, it creates a strong foundation for greater responsibilities.
Senator Alli was subsequently elected as Senator representing Oyo South in 1998, reflecting the confidence placed in him by the people. However, he was unable to assume office due to the military intervention that disrupted the democratic process.
His experience did not end there. He later served as Chief of Staff and Secretary to the Oyo State Government, gaining further administrative and governance experience. He also served as Chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited from 2011 to 2014. During his tenure, the Heritage Mall and Cocoa Mall projects in Ibadan, valued at about ₦3 billion, were completed and commissioned in 2013. The Odu’a Shopping Complex in Idi-Ape was also built, while Almond Court in Agodi, Ibadan, was developed by Odu’a Investment Company during Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli’s tenure as Chairman.
These projects, among several other initiatives undertaken during his tenure as chairman of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, further demonstrated Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli’s capacity for corporate leadership, effective administration, and sound management.
Today, as the Senator representing Oyo South in the 10th National Assembly, his legislative contributions and constituency interventions continue to distinguish him as an experienced and capable public servant.
Now, as the APC Governorship Candidate for Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli brings decades of political, administrative, and leadership experience to the contest. He is experienced, exposed, resourceful, and committed to serving with sincerity and accountability.
Oyo State deserves leadership built on experience, capacity, integrity, and a proven record of service.Support Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, PhD, for Governor of Oyo State.
