The abductors of students and teachers kidnapped from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly demanded a ransom of N1 billion and other conditions for the release of their victims.
Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, disclosed the demands during plenary while briefing lawmakers on developments surrounding the abduction.

According to the Speaker, the kidnappers reportedly requested that the N1 billion ransom be paid into an account located in the Republic of Benin. They also demanded the release of suspected bandits currently being held in Agodi and Abolongo correctional facilities, as well as the provision of two Hilux vans.
Other demands reportedly made by the abductors include the supply of weapons and assurances that future laws would not be enacted to prohibit their activities.
Hon. Ogundoyin described the demands as unreasonable and warned against yielding to them, saying compliance would only embolden criminal elements and strengthen their operations.
He, however, assured residents of Oyo State that both the Federal Government and the Oyo State Government were working closely together to secure the safe release of the abducted students and teachers.
The Speaker urged the public to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies as efforts to rescue the victims intensify.
