Today, June 25, 2026, marks six years since Senator Isiaq Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi, the first democratically elected governor to serve two consecutive terms in Oyo State, bade farewell to the world. As Oyo State, Nigeria, and countless admirers remember him on this solemn anniversary, it is fitting to reflect on a life that was defined by ambition, resilience, service, leadership, and an enduring commitment to the progress of society.

Born on December 16, 1949, in Ibadan, Abiola Ajimobi’s life story remains a testament to the possibilities that hard work, determination, and vision can create. From humble beginnings, he pursued education with diligence and distinguished himself in the oil and gas corporate sector before venturing into politics. His successful career in business equipped him with managerial skills, strategic thinking, and a deep appreciation for accountability, qualities that would later define his approach to governance and public service.

Ajimobi’s political journey was not without challenges. Though he became a Senator representing Oyo South under the Alliance for Democracy at first attempt, like many great leaders, he encountered setbacks and disappointments, especially during his governorshipaspiration. As history continues to assess Abiola Ajimobi’s place among Nigeria’s political leaders, one thing remains undeniable: Abiola Ajimobi left an indelible mark on Oyo State and on the hearts of many who encountered him during his remarkable journey on earth.
