A group operating under the banner of Concerned Stakeholders/Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has called on party members to uphold the legacy of the late former governor, Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi, as they commemorated the sixth anniversary of his passing.
In a statement jointly signed by prominent party stakeholders and released on Wednesday, the group described Ajimobi as a great political leader whose administration represented one of the most remarkable periods in the history of Oyo State.
The stakeholders credited the late governor with major achievements in infrastructure development, urban renewal, institutional reforms, security enhancement and strategic governance initiatives. They said his administration earned him recognition as the father of modern Oyo State and left enduring legacies of discipline, courage, accountability and purposeful leadership.
The group expressed appreciation to party leaders, members and supporters who have continued to honour Ajimobi’s memory, noting that his contributions remain indelible in the political history of the state.
Reflecting on the significance of the anniversary, the stakeholders stressed that political movements are built on history, sacrifice, loyalty and shared values. They argued that individuals who were not closely connected to the struggles and foundations upon which a political platform was built may find it difficult to fully appreciate the legacies and relationships that define such a movement.

Without mentioning any individual by name, the statement noted that some persons may not always identify with or participate in tributes to leaders whose efforts contributed significantly to building the party. According to the group, genuine leadership requires not only ambition but also a deep understanding and appreciation of the sacrifices made by those who laid the foundation of the party.
The stakeholders therefore urged APC members across Oyo State to protect the legacies of the party’s founding leaders, promote unity and uphold the principles of loyalty, fairness and service. They maintained that the most fitting tribute to Ajimobi is the sustenance of his ideals of responsible leadership, inclusive governance and commitment to the welfare and progress of the people.
The statement was signed by Saheed-Lekan Olayiwola (Aare), Hon. Ishola Akeem Adetoyese, Oloye Banji Agboola, Mogaji Abiola Oyeyemi, Adekola Mudashir (Asiwaju), Akinleye Segun (Bishop) and Hon. Inaolaji Akinloye on behalf of the Concerned Stakeholders/Leaders of the APC in Oyo State.
The group concluded by praying for the continued repose of the former governor’s soul.
