IBADAN – The immediate past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ibadan Branch, Ibrahim Lawal, has concluded his two-year tenure with the association’s finances increasing from N600,000 to over N50.34 million.
In a valedictory statement marking the end of his administration, Lawal expressed gratitude to Allah and members of the Ibadan Bar for their support throughout his tenure.
According to him, his administration handed over a financially stable branch with N50,340,943.94 in its coffers as of June 20, 2026, compared to the N600,000 balance inherited when his executive assumed office in 2024. He added that the outgoing administration left no liabilities for the incoming leadership.
Lawal stated that beyond strengthening the branch’s finances, his administration championed advocacy for improved welfare of judicial officers and justice sector workers, defended human rights, and consistently spoke against violations of the rule of law.
He further disclosed that the branch acquired additional assets during his tenure and improved the welfare of staff and lawyers through strict implementation of the Legal Practitioners’ Remuneration Order. According to him, the initiative facilitated the payment of over N600 million in professional income to lawyers within the branch.
The former chairman thanked the branch’s patrons, leaders, members, colleagues across the country, and his family for their support, describing their contributions as instrumental to the success of his administration.
Lawal officially handed over at the end of his tenure as Chairman of the NBA Ibadan Branch, which lasted from 2024 to 2026.
