Ibadan, Oyo State — Lead City University, Ibadan, has appointed Dr. Bayo Busari as the new Head of the Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology.

The university said the appointment reflects its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and leadership development in media and communication studies.

Dr. Busari, a communication scholar and media expert, has served the institution for several years, contributing to teaching, research, mentorship, and the growth of the department. His expertise spans journalism, media studies, and digital communication.

Before his appointment, Dr. Busari served in several academic capacities within the department, including Coordinator of Postgraduate Programmes, where he was instrumental in strengthening postgraduate education and research activities.

He is widely recognized for his contributions to media development, journalism ethics, democratic governance, and the welfare of media practitioners. Through his academic publications and public engagements, he has consistently advocated the role of the media in promoting nation-building and democratic accountability.

As the new Head of Department, Dr. Busari is expected to provide leadership aimed at advancing curriculum development, enhancing research output, and preparing students for opportunities in the evolving media and communication industry.

The Department of Mass Communication and Media Technology is one of the flagship programmes in the Faculty of Communication and Information Sciences at Lead City University which focuses on producing professionals equipped for leadership roles in communication, information management, and media-related fields.

Dr Bayo Busari is the National President, Islamic High School Old Students Association (IHSOSA).

The appointment takes immediate effect.
