The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has promised to review the Circular Roads Corridor and restore the 75-metre setback if elected Governor of the state in 2027.

Alli made the pledge during an engagement with residents affected by the Circular Roads Corridor, where he listened to their concerns and discussed possible ways of addressing the challenges arising from the project and its implementation.

The APC candidate told the residents that reviewing and improving the corridor would be one of his first assignments in office, with a specific commitment to the 75-metre setback.

According to him, the engagement was an opportunity to hear directly from residents, understand the difficulties they face and explore a way forward.

“Reviewing and improving the Circular Roads Corridor will be among my first assignments if elected Governor of Oyo State, including a commitment to a 75-metre setback,” Alli said.

The 75-metre setback commitment is likely to be a significant issue for residents and property owners along the corridor, particularly those whose homes, businesses and properties have been affected by the road project and the associated planning restrictions.

Alli’s position indicates that his proposed administration would revisit aspects of the corridor’s planning and implementation rather than treating the concerns of affected residents as settled.

The candidate also assured the residents that their concerns would receive attention, stressing the importance of engaging directly with communities affected by major government projects.

The meeting was attended by Alli’s running mate, Hon. Adesoji Michael Adedeji; the APC candidate for Oluyole Federal Constituency, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe; the Campaign Director-General, Barr. Yemi Aderibigbe; and other APC leaders.

The engagement forms part of the APC campaign’s interactions with communities and stakeholders ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.

For residents of the Circular Roads Corridor, Alli’s pledge has placed the question of the 75-metre setback at the centre of his campaign promise on the project, with the candidate indicating that a comprehensive review would be undertaken if he assumes office.
