The political temperature in Oyo State is set to rise on August 24–25 as Senator Sharafadeen Alli, PhD, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is expected to sign a Generational Inclusion Pact at the 2026 Oyo State Emerging Political Leaders Summit.

The proposed signing will form a major highlight of the unveiling of the 50 Below 50 Campaign Project, an initiative designed to spotlight and mobilise a new generation of political actors ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The summit, scheduled for the Ibadan Civic Centre, is themed “Bridging the Gap, Uniting Political Strength, and Mobilizing Emerging Leaders for 2027.” It is expected to bring together emerging political leaders, party stakeholders, grassroots mobilisers, community influencers and other strategic actors from across the state.

For organisers, the Generational Inclusion Pact represents more than a ceremonial commitment. It is intended as a public declaration of support for broader youth participation, intergenerational collaboration and the creation of meaningful political opportunities for emerging leaders within the political structure.

Senator Alli’s participation is therefore expected to attract considerable attention, particularly at a time when political parties across Oyo State are positioning themselves for the 2027 contest.

The summit is also expected to serve as a platform for political reconciliation and grassroots coordination, while strengthening the APC’s organisational structure and mobilising support for the party ahead of the next electoral cycle. Organisers say the gathering will equally contribute to the broader mobilisation for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

The programme has attracted prominent figures from the national political and economic establishment.

Dr. Zacch Adedeji, PhD, Executive Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, is expected to serve as Chief Facilitator, delivering a session titled “Fiscal Renewal, Revenue Mobilization, and the Economic Future of Oyo State in the Context of Nigeria’s Progressive National Agenda.”

His participation is expected to provide an economic dimension to the summit, particularly on the relationship between revenue generation, fiscal management, economic development and political leadership.

Senator Barau I. Jibrin, Deputy President of the Senate, is expected to attend as Special Guest of Honour, while Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address on “Bridging Political Divides, Building Strategic Alliances, and Mobilizing Oyo State for Progressive Victory in 2027.”

The convergence of these political heavyweights with emerging leaders is expected to make the summit one of the more closely watched political gatherings in Oyo State this year.

But beyond the speeches, political networking and mobilisation, the proposed signing of the Generational Inclusion Pact could prove to be the summit’s defining moment.

For a political environment increasingly shaped by questions of succession, inclusion and the participation of younger Nigerians, a public commitment by the APC’s governorship candidate to generational partnership could carry considerable symbolic and political weight.

As Oyo’s political actors begin to position themselves for 2027, the Emerging Political Leaders Summit is consequently taking on a significance beyond that of an ordinary political gathering. It is emerging as a platform where alliances may be strengthened, new political relationships forged and the contours of the next electoral battle further defined.

And if Senator Sharafadeen Alli signs the Generational Inclusion Pact as scheduled, the moment could become one of the most memorable images from Oyo State’s early political build-up to 2027.
