A former House of Representatives hopeful for the Ibadan North West/Ibadan South West Federal Constituency, Hon. Ademola Teslim Adegoke Alawuje, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran journalist, renowned public relations practitioner and respected Ibadan chief, Oloye Lekan Alabi, describing his death as a colossal loss to Ibadanland, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

In a condolence message, Hon. Adegoke said Oloye Lekan Alabi was an exceptional ambassador of Ibadan culture and history whose contributions to journalism, public service and the preservation of the rich heritage of the ancient city would remain indelible for generations.

He noted that throughout his distinguished career, the late elder statesman devoted his life to promoting the values, traditions and historical legacy of Ibadan, while serving as a mentor to countless journalists, public communicators and young leaders.

“Oloye Lekan Alabi lived an impactful life marked by excellence, integrity and selfless service. His wise counsel, intellectual depth and unwavering commitment to the progress of Ibadanland earned him respect far beyond the boundaries of Oyo State. His passing is indeed a colossal loss, not only to his family but to the entire Yoruba nation and Nigeria,” Hon. Adegoke stated.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants him Al-Jannatul Firdaus, and gives his family, the Olubadan-in-Council, the people of Ibadanland and all who mourn him the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. Oloye Lekan Alabi died at the age of 76.
