Veteran journalist, renowned public relations practitioner, and the Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi, has died at the age of 76.
According to a press statement issued on Saturday by the Media Aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Adeola Oloko, the respected Ibadan chief passed away on Saturday morning in Lagos.
Lekan Alabi enjoyed a distinguished career in journalism and public service, serving as Chief Press Secretary to multiple former governors of the old Oyo State. He was widely respected for his contributions to journalism, public relations, and the promotion of Ibadan’s history and cultural heritage. President Bola Tinubu had celebrated his 75th birthday in October 2025, describing him as a distinguished journalist and public relations expert.
Family sources disclosed that he will be buried on Sunday in accordance with Islamic rites.
