Former Minister of Power and 2027 governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has urged Nigerians to unite against insecurity, including kidnapping, banditry and terrorism, as the nation marks Democracy Day.

Adelabu, in a statement issued by his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, said tackling insecurity requires collective efforts from citizens, government and security agencies.
He described June 12 as a symbol of Nigeria’s democratic struggle and the sacrifices made by heroes who fought for the return to civil rule.

The APC chieftain called on Nigerians to continue supporting the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that unity and patience are essential for national development.

Adelabu commended Tinubu’s reforms and achievements since assuming office in May 2023, saying the president’s policy decisions have laid the foundation for long-term economic stability, infrastructure development and sustainable growth despite current challenges.

He urged citizens not to lose faith in democracy, noting that the June 12 celebration should remind Nigerians of their responsibility to protect democratic institutions and values.

Adelabu also called for prayers for the safe return of teachers and pupils abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the incident as painful and distressing.

According to him, insecurity remains a major challenge that can only be addressed through cooperation among government, security agencies, traditional rulers and local communities.

He encouraged Nigerians to reflect on the significance of Democracy Day and remain hopeful that the policies of the Tinubu administration would deliver the dividends of democracy to all citizens.
