The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has updated its records for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), replacing Ahmed Yayari Mohammed and Daniel Woyengikuro as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary respectively with Odeyemi Mackson Oladiran and Eyim Donatus Henry.
The development effectively aligns all officials listed on INEC’s portal with the faction of the PDP backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, further consolidating its position within the party’s leadership structure.
Prior to the latest update, INEC had already recognised Abdulrahman Mohammed as National Chairman and Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, both products of the Wike-backed National Convention held in Abuja in March. However, the continued listing of Ahmed Yayari and Daniel Woyengikuro, who are associated with the rival faction led by former Minister Kabiru Turaki and supported by Seyi Makinde, had created uncertainty over the party’s official leadership composition.
Odeyemi Oladiran and Eyim Henry emerged as National Treasurer and National Financial Secretary respectively at the Wike-backed PDP National Convention, where Abdulrahman Mohammed and Samuel Anyanwu were also elected into key national offices. The convention’s outcomes were subsequently recognised by INEC.
With the latest changes, all National Working Committee members currently displayed on INEC’s portal belong to the Wike-backed faction, a move likely to strengthen its claim to legitimacy as the PDP’s internal leadership dispute continues.
