OYO APC CONCERNED STAKEHOLDERS/LEADERS
Press Statement
The Concerned Stakeholders/Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have received with concern reports of a statement allegedly made by Alhaji Fatai Ibukunle on Monday, 1st June, 2026, during a party function, which many party members have interpreted as disparaging to the progressive principles and ideology upon which our great party was founded. The APC remains a progressive platform committed to providing opportunities for competent and deserving individuals from all strata of society to attain leadership positions based on their records of excellent, exceptional, and impactful service in both the public and private sectors.
We are particularly concerned that the alleged remarks appear to reflect a continuing hostility towards the legacy of the late former Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, whose administration remains one of the most remarkable chapters in the political and developmental history of Oyo State. The achievements, credibility, and leadership qualities demonstrated by the late governor continue to inspire millions of party members and supporters. Indeed, the APC in Oyo State is preparing to showcase these accomplishments as a major component of its campaign message ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
While we respect the right of every party member to express opinions on matters affecting the party, we urge Alhaji Ibukunle and other stakeholders to exercise caution, restraint, and responsibility in their public comments. Inflammatory remarks and divisive political statements are capable of creating unnecessary tensions, undermining party cohesion, and setting members against one another, particularly against individuals who played significant roles in building and sustaining the party from its formative years.
We therefore call on all leaders and stakeholders to focus on strengthening the unity of the APC and advancing the collective interest of the party rather than reopening old divisions. We reassure party faithful across Oyo State that the Concerned Stakeholders/Leaders remain committed to representing their voices, aspirations, and opinions within the party. We shall continue to advocate for fairness, inclusiveness, internal democracy, and respect for the contributions of all party leaders, past and present. We are optimistic that through unity, discipline, and collective purpose, the APC will record a successful outing in the 2027 elections and reclaim its rightful place in the governance of Oyo State.
