Akingbile, Oyo State — Distinguished Senator Yunus Akintunde has flagged off the renovation of 22 public schools across the 11 local government areas that make up Oyo Central Senatorial District.
The flag-off ceremony took place on Thursday at Akingbile School in Akinyele Local Government Area, marking the commencement of the educational infrastructure intervention.
Under the initiative, two public schools in each of the district’s local government areas—Akinyele, Afijio, Atiba, Egbeda, Lagelu, Ona-Ara, Ogo-Oluwa, Oluyole, Oyo East, Oyo West, and Surulere — will undergo renovation.
Speaking at the event, Senator Akintunde said the project was aimed at improving learning conditions for students and providing a more conducive environment for teaching and learning across the district.
The lawmaker noted that the intervention forms part of his broader commitment to strengthening the education sector and enhancing access to quality education for children in Oyo Central.
Senator Akintunde’s previous educational interventions in Akinyele Local Government include the renovation of two classrooms at Ojoo High School and the provision of fully equipped Information and Communication Technology (ICT) facilities to the school.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to investing in educational development, stating that efforts would continue to upgrade public schools, improve learning outcomes, and support the future of young people in the district.
Community leaders, education stakeholders, and residents attended the flag-off ceremony.
