Reports circulating on social media have alleged that a Nigerian who reportedly benefited from a cash giveaway conducted by suspected bandits on TikTok has received a message demanding the payment of ₦100 million.

The claim emerged days after videos surfaced online showing individuals believed to be bandits displaying large sums of money during TikTok livestreams and allegedly sending cash gifts to users who provided their account details.

However, as of press time, there is no official confirmation from the Nigeria Police Force, security agencies, or any credible news organisation that a beneficiary of the giveaway received a demand for ₦100 million from the suspected bandits, though there was a video where an alleged beneficiary of 100 thousand naira claimed he had received a mail from bandits demanding 100 million naira from him.

The alleged message has continued to generate debate on social media, with many users expressing concern over the potential security implications of interacting with criminal groups online.

Authorities have yet to comment on the authenticity of the claim. Observers have urged members of the public to exercise caution and avoid sharing personal or banking information with unknown individuals on social media platforms.

Until independent verification is provided, the claim remains unconfirmed.
At present, the most accurate journalistic position is that the ₦100 million demand story is unverified.
