A suspect identified as Ifechukwu Dennis, alleged to be the originator of the fake artificial intelligence-generated voice recording circulated as that of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has been arrested in Benin City by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) crack team.

Sources said Dennis was apprehended following investigations into the controversial audio message, which was widely shared on social media and falsely presented as the President’s voice. Investigators reportedly traced the origin of the manipulated recording to the suspect before effecting his arrest.

Police authorities are expected to issue an official statement on the arrest and the outcome of the investigation.

The fake audio had sparked widespread reactions online, with concerns over the growing use of artificial intelligence tools to create and disseminate misleading content.
